Joint Pains and Osteoporosis
Joint pains and osteoporosis are the most common symptoms of gluten intolerance. If someone experiences these symptoms, they should go to the doctor immediately. They can prevent joint damage by performing endoscopy and removing inflamed tissue. This can be done through a small incision in the stomach area or an endoscope inserted into the mouth (the same procedure used for gallbladder removal).
The doctor will also perform a bone scan to determine if there has been any bone damage due to celiac disease or other causes unrelated to gluten sensitivity. If there has been no damage caused by celiac disease, it is recommended to follow a well-balanced diet so that the person does not suffer from joint pain again later on down the line when it may not be possible for doctors to reverse any damage already done.
