Supports Vision and Eye Health
The ability of Ginkgo Biloba to improve blood flow is why it can support and improve vision and eye health. In an experiment, a patient with glaucoma took a Ginkgo Biloba supplement and experienced increased blood flow. Another research showed the effects of Ginkgo Biloba on the progression of age-related macular degeneration. Some eye diseases that Ginkgo Biloba could cure, help slow down, and improve are glaucoma, cataract, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinopathy, retinitis pigmentosa, eye infections, and uveitis.
The antioxidant found in Ginkgo Biloba helps lower the probability of getting age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. Since antioxidants reduce the speed at which the diseases progress, patients can benefit from taking Ginkgo Biloba daily. Although its clinical effectiveness is yet to be proven, there is no known harm in taking it as a herbal supplement.
American Optometric Association advised including foods rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and vitamin E in a patient’s diet to help improve their eye health and vision. For example, Ginkgo Biloba has high levels of antioxidants and vitamins, which is why the Chinese use it to treat ailments related to vision loss and other eye diseases.
