An Upset Stomach
The first sign that you may have developed gallstones is an upset stomach. Gallstones are solid deposits of cholesterol and other substances in the gallbladder. If the gallbladder becomes too full, it can be inflamed and cause inflammation in the abdomen.
The reasoning is that the bile ducts are blocked by stones that have formed due to an accumulation of cholesterol and other bile components. Bile is produced in the liver and stored in the gallbladder. When food is eaten, it triggers the release of bile from the gallbladder. This bile then goes through the common hepatic duct into the small intestine, which assists digestion by helping break down fat molecules into smaller, water-soluble molecules. An obstruction or blockage of this common hepatic duct means that bile does not reach the small intestine, which can result in severe abdominal pain.
