Nystatin
Nystatin is a prescription antifungal medication that prevents or treats fungal infections (or yeast), such as skin infections and oral thrush. The medication eradicates the disease by killing the fungus. In addition, it can be used to keep you from contracting an infection. Only those with a prescription can buy Nystatin.
Adults, kids, and infants can use nystatin liquid, cream, and ointments. But not everyone should take Nystatin. Inform your doctors if you have ever had a medication allergy, sugar intolerance, or skin tuberculosis (TB) to ensure that Nystatin suits you.
Additionally, Nystatin is offered in ointments and creams that contain it blended with other substances. Doctors will often choose which option is best for you. A cream or ointment is typically used two or three times per day for a maximum of seven days.
Most people use Nystatin liquid for about a week to treat oral thrush. It works best when taken after eating a meal. However, do not combine it with food, water, or other beverages.
