Prostatitis
The male reproductive system includes the prostate gland. It is positioned in front of the rectum, beneath the bladder. The urethra passes through the gland’s center. There are four major prostate gland disorders collectively referred to as prostatitis.
Urinary tract infections have been associated with two kinds of prostatitis. Men who have prostatitis may experience pain, irritation, or infection. Prostatitis can affect adult men of any age. Most men diagnosed with prostatitis have other conditions and were falsely diagnosed.
At some stage of their lives, 50 percent of men experience prostatitis symptoms. The majority of males under 50 suffer from this urinary tract condition. It ranks third among diseases that affect males over 50. Every year, over two million men with prostatitis seek medical attention.
Prostatitis is a benign condition (not cancerous). Therefore, it does not affect a man’s likelihood of developing prostate cancer. However, just like prostate cancer, prostatitis can cause inflammation that increases the blood level of prostate-specific antigens (PSA). Finding the cause of increased PSA levels may require additional testing.
