Mushrooms
Similar to cabbages and apples, mushrooms are another food that might be considered very healthy, but is still a part of FODMAP. Mushrooms are well known for their versatility, but it is this versatility that causes problems. Most people unknowingly eat so many mushrooms as part of their meals throughout the day that they start to develop diverticulosis. It’s only a matter of time before it eventually grows into diverticulitis, where you start experiencing its more painful symptoms.
Mushrooms are often classed as a superfood, but in this case they’re something you should avoid if you happen to suffer from diverticulitis. The issue stems with how often mushrooms appear in everyday diets — healthy or otherwise.
It would be wise to consider your intake of mushrooms if you suffer from symptoms of diverticulitis. Keep an eye out for any recipes that might have them, and try to avoid mushrooms as much as you can to help mitigate the most painful effects of diverticulitis.
