French Fries
As far as foods that trigger acid reflux go, french fries are some of the unhealthiest choices one can make. As a part of a balanced diet, french fries are best avoided. The reason is typically due to the way it’s prepared — deep frying. French fries are high in sodium and fat content. If you eat a meal heavy in fat content, it can slow down the rate in which the stomach digests food.
If the stomach digests food too slowly, it results in more stomach acid buildup. Even those who aren’t suffering from acid reflux will find themselves feeling uncomfortable due to the digestion process of high fat foods such as french fries. The acid buildup can get to the point where it hits and passes the LES, resulting in heartburn.
Some fast food restaurants even fry their french fries in bacon fat. It does not have to be said how unhealthy such a thing can be, and how it might adversely affect the body. French fries are junk food in every sense of the word, and it’s recommended that you avoid eating fries as much as possible.
