Strawberries
Strawberries have plenty of antioxidants thanks to flavonoids such as quercetin. These flavonoids are what gives the strawberries its distinct pigment, while simultaneously offering all sorts of health benefits. The flavonoid responsible for the pigment is known as anthocyanin. One of the interesting things about strawberries is despite the orange being known for its abundance of vitamin C, strawberries have more of the essential vitamin overall.
As with most berries, strawberries have an abundance of antioxidants, which can help the human body in many different ways. For example, it can neutralize the effects of free radicals in the body, and also serves to help the skin retain its youthful appearance. As if that wasn’t enough, strawberries also have various other nutrients including calcium, folate, vitamin K, magnesium, and phosphorus.
Strawberries are famous for being low in fat and glycemic count, but it is still possible to get carried away. Much like everything else, moderation is the key to a healthy diet.
