Dried apricots
Fruits are typically low in non-heme iron. But of course, there is always an exception. For example, dried apricots are high in iron. Surprisingly, the iron content in dried apricots is higher than what fresh apricots provide. Eating 100 grams of fresh apricots only offers 0.39 mg of iron, whereas you will have 6.8 times more iron from dried apricots. If you are low in iron, consider having some dried apricots, which are usually a filling snack.
Generally, dried fruits are good sources of iron because all the nutrients of the fruits become concentrated when dried. For example, a single serving of 100 grams will already give you 3 mg of iron. At the same time, one cup of dried apricot has 4.3 mg of iron, besides antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and fiber.
One detrimental issue when eating dried fruits is their high calorie and sugar content. Thus, if you want to maintain your weight, eat only the recommended amount of dried apricots.
