What Are The Triggers Of Eye Pain? 14 Common Causes

Iritis

Iritis, medically referred to as, is the swelling of the pupil (the black hole and the center of the iris). The key function of the pupil is to allow the light to pass through, and it changes in size (becomes smaller or bigger) depending on the proportion of light that enters the eye. If this delicate tissue of the eyes gets inflamed, symptoms may occur like pain in the eye, aches in the affected area, headache, eye redness, sensitivity to excessive light, and blurry vision.

The causes of iritis are slightly different from other eye problems, like eye injury by blunt force, trauma and chemical burns that penetrated the eyes, infections from bacteria or parasites from raw food, spores of fungus and viral infections, reaction to medications like antibiotic rifabutin (used to treat people with AIDS); or smoking of tobacco.

People with iritis should undertake comprehensive eye examinations for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Eye surgery is required for severe cases and health complications.
