Relieves Insect Bites and Stings
Inflammation causes bites, stings, sunburns, and rashes to become irritated. It’s a way the body defends itself from foreign objects and disease-causing pathogens and is the starting point of healing and recovery. Signs of inflammation such as heat, swelling, redness, itching, and tenderness can be quickly resolved with the use of natural remedies such as taking an Epsom salt bath.
The rich magnesium concentration in Epsom salt is proven to reduce signs of inflammation significantly. When applied directly to an insect bite or sting, Epsom salt is quickly absorbed into the skin, slowing down the inflammation process.
There are various ways to use Epsom salt in treating bites, stings, and rashes caused by insects. For localized inflammation, such as rashes or a small patch of itch skin, use Epsom salt soaked in a warm compress. Mix two tablespoons of Epsom salt with one cup of warm water. Stir the mixture until dissolved. Soak a clean washcloth in the mixture, wring lightly, and directly apply to the affected skin for five minutes. Epsom salt can be made into a paste or mixed with unscented lotion and applied to the affected area. Use these formulations until the inflammation subsides.
