Abdominal Pain
Since hepatomegaly is usually a symptom of liver disease, it is usually accompanied by abdominal pain with differing severities. However, it might be challenging to distinguish pain in the liver, even though it is the biggest organ in the body. It’s easy to mistake it for a common stomachache, just to the left of where it is. A painful liver might manifest as a discomfort in the front center of the abdomen, at the back, or even in the shoulders, depending on the underlying source of the pain.
Despite popular belief, the liver does not contain any pain receptors. In most cases, the pain is brought on by inflammation of the membrane surrounding the affected area. It is common for the signs of liver disease not present until the condition has progressed significantly. Because of this, paying attention to other symptoms such as nausea, jaundice, and coffee grounds like vomit is significant.
After receiving an accurate diagnosis and treatment, it may take several days to a few weeks to alleviate the pain. If the abdominal pain is caused by a later stage of a liver illness, there is a possibility that it cannot be reversed.
