Wearing Gloves too Often
Dyshidrotic eczema can be tricky to avoid as it’s about maintaining a balance. You don’t want your hands and feet to get wet too often, but you also don’t want them to dry out and crack, as both have the potential for dyshidrosis to occur. With your hands, it’s natural to wear gloves when washing the dishes, perhaps due to your line of work. However, no matter the case, keeping your gloves on for too long to avoid getting your hands wet will inadvertently cause the same thing. After all, your hands can still sweat, which means you are locking in your sweat and potentially breeding eczema within the gloves. As such, it’s a best practice only to wear gloves when necessary.
Keeping your gloves on for too long will only increase the odds of getting skin conditions such as eczema. It gets worse when you already have another type of eczema, as it increases the chances of getting dyshidrosis alongside your eczema. If you must wear gloves due to specific diseases or work, take a break every now and then and let your hands breathe. Otherwise, it could become problematic given enough time.
