Scratching Individual Blisters
One typically receives blisters from minor burns, especially on the hands. These blisters will hurt and itch, making it very tempting to scratch and pop. However, popping individual blisters instead of letting them heal is a breeding ground for bacteria and infection. The infection could potentially become dyshidrotic eczema if you aren’t careful. There are situations where those without eczema get a blister for some other reason, only to constantly scratch at the wound and get dyshidrosis. The best advice is not to give a blister any attention outside treatment. No matter how tempting it is to scratch, you could get more blisters by popping them.
Another way to help blisters heal is to use moisturizer to help seal in the moisture. While such a thing is typically what you should avoid when it comes to eczema, you don’t want your skin to crack from too little moisture. The best thing to do is to let your hands and feet air out and to have moisturizer on hand to ensure the skin doesn’t crack and any blisters heal as soon as possible.
