Helps Deal with Claustrophobia
A phobia is typically described as an irrational fear, as there are many phobias concerning objects that aren’t generally harmful to humans (lizards, birds). However, it’s understandable when you consider claustrophobia, a harrowing fear of being in an enclosed space. The sauna room, specifically the steam sauna, can be problematic for those with claustrophobia, as the pressurized steam can make you feel like the room is getting smaller. It doesn’t help that it’s sometimes difficult to get deep breaths due to the hot steam. The pressurized steam is enough to trigger claustrophobia in many people, so it’s often a good idea to go for the dry sauna treatment instead.
As the dry sauna uses a heater and the conductivity of the wooden room to circulate the heat, it doesn’t feel nearly as stifling as the conventional steam sauna. As a result, it helps those who might have issues with claustrophobia get through a sauna session without triggering their fear. It does not seem like such a big deal for those without claustrophobia, but irrational fear can sometimes be debilitating. The dry sauna makes an excellent alternative.
