Anemia
Anemia is when the body lacks healthy red blood cells to transport oxygen to the tissue. Anemia has many forms and can be long-term or temporary. People with this condition often feel weak, dizzy, and tired. Signs and symptoms also vary depending on the severity and case. Additionally, anemia could be an underlying sign of other underlying conditions.
One type of anemia is called aplastic anemia. It occurs when the stem cells are destroyed, and bone marrow cannot produce new blood cells. A person can either develop (acquired) aplastic anemia or be born (inherited) with it. Symptoms include dizziness, pale skin, and tachycardia (fast heart rate).
Anemia-related treatments depend on the cause but can range from supplements to medical procedures. Certain types of anemia can also be prevented by following a healthy diet.
