Tingling of Extremities
Diabetes is a condition that can potentially cause considerably long-term problems if left unchecked. One such symptom that comes with high blood glucose levels is the tingling of extremities, more commonly referred to as diabetic neuropathy. This condition damages the signal-sending nerves from the feet and hands. As mentioned earlier, it can also cause tingling and numbness. Sometimes, the symptom is akin to sharp, aching, or burning pain. While it may start mild, this condition can worsen and spread to the arms or legs. There are even situations wherein the simple act of walking causes considerable pain.
Up to half of the diabetic population may experience this type of nerve pain, and this damage can impact sleeping ability, lower quality and standards of life, and depression. It’s worth noting that while it’s impossible to replace damaged nerves, specific treatments and practices can prevent more damage and alleviate pain.
