Aloe Vera
Topical aloe vera is a well-liked DIY treatment for various conditions, including acne and sunburn. Some even claim that it can speed up the recovery of cold sores. Applying a small amount of aloe vera to the affected area a few times daily can help soothe the pain and make healing faster. Keeping it cold in the fridge can also increase its soothing effect.
Aloe vera has been touted as a topical treatment for several skin conditions, with some even claiming it may reverse baldness and aid in wound healing. In addition, alternative medical professionals advise aloe as a treatment for burns, lichen planus (a skin or mouth inflammation), oral submucous fibrosis, and radiation-induced skin damage. The soft gel of the plant is enclosed in a hard outer rind on aloe vera leaves. The component of the plant that is administered topically is the clear gel, also utilized as an ingredient in other topical aloe products.
Less well-known is that aloe vera is occasionally taken orally in alternative medicine. Aloe has many oral uses, including treating inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, hepatitis, and hepatitis. In these situations, the leaf’s outer, green portion is dried or converted into juice.
