Support for weight loss is one of the most well-known claims attributed to liquid chlorophyll. In a 2014 trial with 38 female participants, researchers discovered that individuals that took the chlorophyll supplement once daily shed more weight than those who did not.

Thirty-eight women were observed in the study who ranged in age from 40 to 56 and had a body mass index (BMI) of 55 to 79 lb/ft (2). The women were randomly assigned to receive either a placebo (5g) or a dietary supplement containing chlorophyll. For 12 weeks, this supplement had to be taken once a day before breakfast. 

Every participant consumed three meals a day without any between-meal snacks. They had to become more active as well. Every third week, the subject’s body weight was recorded. Using the placebo group as a point of comparison, the individuals who took the chlorophyll supplement significantly lost more weight.

The supplement resulted in an average weight decrease of 11.0 +/- 2.3 lbs. vs. 7.7 +/- 2.3 lbs. without. The supplements significantly decreased total and LDL cholesterol and cravings for chocolate and sweets.
