The 12 Causes of Chapped Lips You Should Be Aware Of

Malnutrition

Malnutrition is a health condition by which a person experiences a deficiency or an imbalance in food intake. When a person is considered malnourished, it does not necessarily mean that they have not eaten; rather, the food lacks sufficient nutrients for growth and development.

Malnutrition can be due to either lack of enough health benefits or there is an excessive amount of a certain vitamin or food that can lead to obesity. The vitamins, minerals, and nutrients obtained from food or drink consumption are not enough to sustain the specific and general needs of the body. A noticeable effect of malnourishment is dry, rough, and scaly lips.

Citrus fruits like orange, lemon, pomelo, and grapefruit help hydrate and give life to the skin and the lips. It is best to consume food containing vitamins that make the skin glow and retain its pinkish and bright color to maintain the lips’ tenderness and plumpness. On the contrary, avoid eating too much food that contains preservatives or chemicals that are artificial (like fast food) as it slowly kills the cells and could raise the risk of acquiring chronic diseases.
