Lip Eczema
Signs of this skin disease include itchiness and inflammation on the skin’s surface, blisters, cracks on the outer layer, mild redness, sores, flakiness, dryness, and rashes. The same symptoms are observable when the eczema is on the lips. That’s why it is sometimes called lip dermatitis or eczematous cheilitis. Reasons for acquiring these are from either hereditary or environmental factors. Types of lip eczema include irritant contact cheilitis (external irritation), angular cheilitis (infection from bacteria or fungi), and allergic contact cheilitis (triggered by allergic reactions to a certain product.)
Lip eczema is like having chapped lips; however, the symptoms are more severe and dangerous. The cracks and dryness on the lips become so painful that they should be treated immediately. Though it calls for a higher risk of the health condition, it is not contagious. It can be treated through medications or by applying lip moisturizers, balms, and ointments.
