Heals Wound Fast
A 2010 review article in Molecular Medicine Reports notes the wound recovery potential of topically applied chamomile. The plant’s antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties keep wounds from getting infected and accelerate healing.
This study’s focus on topical chamomile does not necessarily mean that consuming chamomile tea has no similar impact on wound healing. The calming effect of chamomile tea is good for keeping stress away and supporting the normal function of the immune system.
A study published in the journal “Immunology and Allergy Clinics of North America” presents evidence of the undesirable effect of stress on wound healing. Conversely, the stress-busting potential of chamomile tea helps eliminate obstacles in the recovery of wounds.
Also, a double-blind German study on chamomile’s contribution to wound recovery presents promising results. It shows that those treated with chamomile extract have a bigger reduction of the wound area (61%) compared to the control group (48%). The researchers noted faster epithelialization and a considerably higher wound breaking strength among those who took some chamomile tea.
