Nutrient Deficiency
Vitamins, minerals, proteins, and water are essential for the body. These help organs (internal and external) function normally, strengthen the immune system, boost growth and development, and improve a person’s overall health and well-being. These may be taken from the food people eat, fluids taken in, and supplements consumed daily. The vitamins’ functions may be summarized as follows: Vitamin A for vision, bones, and skin; Vitamin B for nerve function, blood, and brain; Vitamin C for improving the immune system and replenishing damaged cells; Vitamin D for calcium needed in forming and strengthening bones and teeth; and Vitamin E antioxidant that helps cell membranes.
In addition, minerals may be obtained from fruits and vegetables necessary to be included in the diet. Proteins are from the meat of animals such as pork, chicken, beef, and fish. All these contribute to keeping healthy cells, preserving essential organs, and preventing diseases from entering and developing in the body. In contrast, an insufficient amount of these vitamins (especially the Vitamin B group) could lead to serious mental issues. For example, low amounts of Vitamin C, B12, and D could cause brain fog.
