14 Causes & Common Triggers Of Bone Pain (You Should Know)

Toddler’s Fracture

One of the most common causes of bone pain in children two years and beyond is called a Toddler’s Fracture. A spiral fracture in the shin bone (called the tibia) creates tiny cracks inside but does not damage the calf bone (called fibula) caused by sudden twisting and jerking movements. The tibia and fibula are bones found between the knees and ankles that are responsible for supporting the upper body in physical activities like standing, walking, jogging, running, and jumping. Additionally, children are known for being uncontrollable during playtime, so minor fractures around the shin bone are to be expected.

Forearm fractures cause recurrent bone pain in children. It’s a common breaking of forearm bones that takes up to fifty percent of all bone fracture cases in children in the US alone, being much more common than shins and leg fractures. This is typical because a child’s reflex would put their forearms first as a primary defense against a fall. However, they are likely to crack or break easily because they still have tender bones.
