Breath Holding and Teeth Clenching
Breath holding and Tteeth clenching and are internal bodily actions, which often become a habit or come with a condition.
Teeth clenching is associated with bruxism, a condition where a person unconsciously gnashes or clenches teeth. Although it is primarily considered a sleep-movement disorder, teeth gnashing or clenching could happen either while the person is awake or asleep. Bruxism could be mild or severe and come with additional symptoms like a locked jaw, headache, and damaged teeth. In addition, when teeth clenching starts to strain blood vessels, it may result in a blood spot or subconjunctival hemorrhage.
A breath-holding episode occurs, usually among kids, when they become angry, frustrated, or startled. It is not forced or controlled and could sometimes get so intense the child may pass out or have blood in the eye. According to experts, it is pretty normal for children to have these spells and should outgrow them even without treatment. It could be frightening to watch, but it is generally harmless. According to studies, a breath-holding spell tends to run in families, but the actual cause remains unknown.
