Cranberry Juice
A commonly-believed treatment for a bladder infection is drinking a lot of cranberry juice. It is very effective because it combines several anti-bacterial approaches. First, the liquid is always good for the bladder since it helps hydrate and encourage urination. The more a person urinates, the cleaner the inside of the bladder becomes. Additionally, cranberries are rich in phytochemicals that help boost the immune system. These immune boosters include proanthocyanidins (PACs), anthocyanins, benzoic acid, and ursolic acid. The influx of these antioxidants can shorten the duration of the infection. They do this by preventing the bacteria that enable the infection from sticking to the bladder’s walls which makes them easier to expel.
Cranberry juice is the usual delivery method, but it is also possible to take cranberry extract via other means. Cranberry tablets are popular since they concentrate several glasses of cranberry juice into tablet form. However, some people don’t like the taste of cranberries, while excessive juice drinking can cause some problems. Drinkers complain of stomach upset after they drink too much of the juice, and diarrhea sometimes strikes drinkers. A couple of glasses every day should be enough to deal with the infection.
