What Could Trigger Black Vomit? 13 Possible Causes

Natural Aging

Age is surprisingly a leading reason for black vomit. It is not the direct cause but contributes to some of its reasons. Studies show that GI tract bleeding increases as people grow older. Beyond 60, there is a good chance of internal bleeding.

One factor is that older people may be on anti-coagulants to help with their heart conditions. While this helps the heart pump correctly, it makes clotting harder, allowing for bleeding in the GI tract without clotting over. The blood ends up clotting inside the stomach and results in black vomit.Age also weakens many of the body’s systems. For example, veins already easily rupture at a young age. When older, they can rupture because of additional pressures on the system, leading to more internal bleeding. It can also happen more frequently as studies show a 10 percent increase in the recurrence of internal bleeding as people age. All people can do in this situation is to be more careful as they grow older.
