Respiratory Illnesses (Adenovirus)
Bell’s palsy can also occur due to adenovirus. This virus is a collection of widespread viruses that affect your neurological system, urinary tract, intestines, eyes, and airways. Usually, adenovirus is the frequent cause of coughs, fever, diarrhea, sore throats, and pink eye.
In most cases, the infections only produce minor symptoms and resolve entirely on their own in a few days. However, they can worsen in children and others with weakened immune systems. By the time they turn 10, most children will experience at least one type of adenovirus infection.
Various adenovirus types can have different effects on a person. For example, when a person infected with adenovirus has croup, they will show symptoms like trouble breathing, barking cough, and high-pitched breathing sound. Meanwhile, if bronchitis occurs, the person might experience fever, cough, chills, and a runny nose.
If the person experiences an ear infection, they will feel fever, ear pain, and irritation. When it’s pneumonia, trouble breathing, cough, and fever are the common symptoms.
Aside from these health conditions, adenovirus also causes urinary tract infections, colds, spinal cord and brain swelling, intestinal and stomach infections, and pink eye.
