Pruritus
Pruritus or itchy skin is an uncomfortable and irritating sensation that lingers. Pruritus triggers the urge to scratch the infected area. Itchy skin is a common problem caused by several factors like harsh soap, type of fabric, allergic reaction, or extreme weather conditions. The cause of pruritus is so many that it is hard to diagnose the leading cause. It can also be a symptom of an underlying health problem or condition.
Experts have shared several ways how to determine the cause of itchy skin. For instance, if the scratching leaves a rash, the reason is likely infection and bug bites. Bed bug bites, for example, generally look like rashes. Bed bugs bite in clusters or rows, leaving behind a patch of skin covered with small red dots. Most people assume that bed bug bites are rashes, making it harder for them to be appropriately treated.
Scratching the infected areas can cause blisters and open woods that may lead to infection and allergic reactions.
