Comfortable Clothing
Men use tight undergarments or underwear to keep their genitals in place. Male models and performers commonly use these. Tight undergarments keep the penis and scrotum away from the thighs, making them look more polished. However, wearing tight undergarments for an extended period may lead to several health complications. For instance, studies show that tight underwear can cause penis fracture, skin cuts, erection problems, and even reduce a man’s sperm count. The most common result of wearing tight underwear is inflammation and infection. This is because the foreskin and glans usually receive the most pressure build-up and intense friction, leading to redness, irritation, and swelling.
Since the primary role of underwear (e.g., briefs, boxers, or long underwear) is to protect the genitals from sweat, dirt, friction, and force. It will help if the material of the undergarment is soft, like cotton, to minimize the pressure and friction the penis receives while the person is walking or running. Men should also consider their genital size when choosing underwear. It should not be tight or baggy. The right underwear size has enough room for the genitals to “breathe,” avoiding the accumulation of urine, sweat, and moisture.
Aside from choosing the proper undergarments, men should also be cautious in choosing their pants. Skin-tight jeans or leather pants may also cause restrictions in the penis’ blood vessels, leading to balanitis. So, it is best to wear comfortable pants, especially if the person already has a penile infection and inflammation history.
