Reactive Arthritis – Circinate Balanitis
Reactive arthritis is a medical condition characterized by the inflammation and redness of different joints all over the body. Usually, the joints in the feet, toes, knees, ankles, and hips are affected. Although it is uncommon, people who recently suffered from infection, food poisoning, or sexually transmitted diseases have higher risks of developing reactive arthritis.
A person with reactive arthritis can also lead to circinate balanitis. The inflammation of the penis is usually accompanied by small lesions or tiny sores on the foreskin and glans. A patient may also experience frequent urination, a burning sensation while urinating, and sticky and strong-smelling discharge.
Reactive arthritis is a very tricky condition. For some patients, the symptoms and discomfort go away after a few months of medication. However, in some cases, arthritis symptoms may last for several years. In severe cases, patients develop long-term arthritis, which can flare up at any time. These conditions may lead to joint damage and repetitive balanitis.
