12 Symptoms of Arthritis: Early Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore

Grating Sensation

A grating sensation is felt when joint pains become severe over time. It is a tingling feeling inside the joints, like getting pricked with multiple pins and needles. This irritable feeling is grievously tormenting as joint pains also become recurring. The grating sensation is an alarming symptom of arthritis because it gradually weakens the bones in the joints and may trigger a slow progression of joint deterioration and deformity.

What feels like a grinding and crackling sensation in the joints is called crepitus. In the earlier development of crepitus, the crackling sound is often silent but can be heard and felt by the person who has arthritis. Moreover, at a later time, the cracking sound eventually becomes audible when what functions as the bone’s cushion grows thinner, causing the bones to contact more often and trigger louder crepitus. The older the person becomes, the more likely crepitus is literally heard.

When the person suffers from this kind of symptom, it indirectly means that the arthritis is widespread and may affect other joints in different parts of the body.
