Lupus
One of the more unfortunate causes of ankle pain is lupus, a relatively rare autoimmune disease where the body attacks healthy tissues. It’s similar to rheumatoid arthritis, though lupus can be more problematic as it affects every part of the body rather than the joints. Those with lupus also have painful ankles and joints as a side effect of lupus causing arthritis. Those with lupus are also not allowed to stay in the sun for too long, as the body becomes extremely sensitive to sunlight, leading to painful rashes and flare-ups. Those with lupus have much more to worry about than sore ankles, though it can cause considerable pain due to arthritis. The unfortunate thing about lupus is the lack of a cure. Lupus can be treated and made easier to manage, but no functional cure exists.
In such cases, knowing when one might suffer a potential flare-up is crucial, as it allows you to treat the problem much more quicker. Lupus requires visiting the doctors regularly and having a support system of people you trust to help take care of you.
