Reduces Neck Pain
For a long time, the general assumption was that the best way to avoid neck pain was to sit for as short a period as possible. Standing desks have been shown to have many benefits, but it wasn’t until recently that researchers began looking specifically into how they can reduce neck pain.
A standing desk allows one to absorb the benefits of neck movement while working. Users claim that they feel less stiff and have less muscle tension in the neck after using a standing desk.
Standing desks are designed to allow users to stand while they work. Most standing desks have an adjustable height, and users simply adjust the desk height so that their body is positioned where they stand for most of the day. This change in posture allows for more movement when sitting, as opposed to being forced to sit still for most of the day.
This extra movement means less pressure on the spine and neck from sitting at an incline all day. The decrease in pressure reduces stiffness and tension in the muscles and joints, which can cause significant pain and discomfort if left untreated.
