Tattoos
Tattoos are a common aesthetic in the body. They can be placed in almost every body part, but they are commonly located in the arms, back, shoulders, and thighs. They are done by injecting ink into the skin using a needle. In this way, a particular design can be made. These incisions are technically punctured wounds that penetrate the deep part of the skin. The ink actually reaches the dermis layer of the skin since it has more stable cells than the epidermis, which continually sheds through the years. This way, the designs can last a lifetime.
However, deep punctured wounds can lead to complications and infections, like necrotizing fasciitis. They may serve as openings and dwellings for bacteria to enter the body and multiply. Moreover, contaminated needles and equipment used in the process may be carriers of flesh-eating bacteria that may infect and inflame the skin cells.
