Monitor Potassium Level
Potassium is an essential mineral that maintains the levels of fluid outside the cells. It also helps in the contraction of the muscle and the maintenance of normal blood pressure. This mineral is also called an electrolyte due to its small electrical charge component. Potassium has a direct relationship with chronic cardiovascular diseases.
The potassium level must be within the normal range. Low potassium may weaken the muscle and will lead to abnormal heart rhythms. While having high levels of potassium will lead to heart palpitations, chest pain, nausea, and shortness of breath. A potassium level not within the normal range is harmful and can worsen myocarditis. Irregular heart rhythms are dangerous to myocarditis. The muscle cannot generate its function and can affect blood pumping in the heart.
Potassium may prevent cardiovascular calcification or calcium buildup in the myocardium that may also affect the arteries by hardening them. This condition is called atherosclerosis. However, the potassium level must be only at the normal range. Too much and too little in the amount will affect the myocardium.
