Orthodontic Braces and Retainers
Orthodontic braces are dental tools that correct conditions within the teeth. Many people wear braces to correct their crowded, crooked, or misaligned teeth, and there are different kinds of braces. The first one is the metal or traditional braces made of metal and flexible wires. The second one is the ceramic braces made of stainless steel, gold, and explicit materials. Lingual braces are another type of braces that are attached to the back of the teeth. And the last one is clear aligners made of plastic materials. These substances can cause friction on the cheeks and inside the mouth, and neglected irritation will lead to painful mouth ulcers.
Irritation from wearing braces can cause mouth ulcers. The persistent rubbing of braces on the soft tissues inside the mouth for an extended period can stimulate it. This will start a sore and develop into a mouth ulcer. Having mouth ulcers in people wearing orthodontic braces or retainers is common. The soft tissues inside the mouth are irritated from rubbing against the wires and brackets. As this continues, a sore will become raw, and if left untreated, it will become an infection.
