Improves Kidney Health
Magnesium is involved in many body processes. One of these processes is the regulation of fluid and electrolyte balance. Magnesium helps keep the body’s fluids balanced, which can help prevent kidney stones from forming or worsening an existing condition.
Magnesium also helps prevent certain types of kidney damage, such as acute tubular necrosis (ATN) and chronic renal failure (CRF). ATN is a type of acute kidney injury that occurs when blood flow is lost to part of the kidneys for more than six hours. If left untreated, this condition can result in chronic renal failure (CRF), which causes a decrease in how well the kidneys work over time and eventually leads to death if not treated properly. The risk factors include age over 60, diabetes; high blood pressure, heart disease; obesity/being overweight; genetics; alcohol consumption of more than two drinks per day on average.
