Severe Fatigue
If a person experiences severe fatigue, it’s essential to recognize that it may be a symptom of Lyme disease. It can be severe and make it difficult to complete daily tasks. Unfortunately, this symptom is often misdiagnosed as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).
CFS and Lyme disease cause debilitating fatigue that interferes with a person’s ability to function. However, there are several key differences between these conditions. First, the symptoms of CFS are long-lasting and constant; they don’t come in episodes or flare-ups like with Lyme disease.
Meanwhile, the onset of CFS is gradual; a person may start experiencing symptoms slowly over time rather than suddenly getting sick after one bite from an infected tick. CFS is not life-threatening. However, Lyme disease can be fatal if left untreated. If they experience fatigue as a symptom of Lyme disease, it’s essential to see their doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
