14 Symptoms & Signs of Low Testosterone You Shouldn’t Ignore (Hypogonadism)

Smaller Testicles and Penis Size

The body requires testosterone to develop the male reproductive organs like testicles and penis. For this reason, low testosterone levels may contribute to relatively smaller testicles or penis. A study discovered that testicular volume, combined with body mass index (BMI), can determine testosterone levels. Participants with lower levels of testosterone developed smaller testicles on average.

One way to assess the size of the testicle is by volume. An average size testicle is around 20 cm³. Measuring the length of a testicle from top to bottom is another method of determining its size. This length ranges between 4.5 and 5.1 cm on average.

People with lesser testicles should be concerned. Yet, a problem is rarely present if there are no associated symptoms. Instead of comparing one’s testicles to those of others, should consider how their testicles have developed through time. An issue can be present if the testicles suddenly change dramatically in size, either become larger or smaller.

It’s crucial to note that not all men with low testosterone levels have small testicles. Other health circumstances and conditions can also lead to smaller testicles and penis. Among those are varicocele, prostate surgery, aging, Peyronie’s disease, undescended testicles, and obesity.
