Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has been in the medical field for quite some time. Native Australians used tea tree oil to treat coughs and colds by applying it directly to the skin or inhaling it. Tea tree oil’s effectiveness lies in its compound, terpinen-4-ol, which destroys bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This makes tea tree oil a sought-after treatment for skin problems like impetigo.
Nowadays, tea tree oil is used in skincare products. It became popular due to its effectiveness and properties. For instance, tea tree oil has anti-inflammatory properties that boost white blood cells. The white blood cells are utilized for the healing process of impetigo sores. It can also alleviate the redness and swollen lymph nodes caused by impetigo. Tea tree oil also has anti-bacterial properties, used to fight bacteria-causing diseases such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus.
To use tea tree oil as a remedy, dilute drops of tea tree oil in water and mix it well. Then, apply the solution to the sores and infected areas. Use it once to twice a day for optimal results. Generally, tea tree is safe, but it is not recommended for children since they may cause skin irritation.
