Herbal Infusions
An herbal infusion is a tea made by steeping herbs in hot water for an extended period. The longer the herbs steep, the stronger the effects of the infusion. Herbal infusions are used to treat a variety of ailments, from muscle aches to anxiety to headaches. One common use for herbal infusions is general wellness. Because it’s more potent than a standard cup of tea, an herbal infusion can be used once or twice a day in place of everyday tea or coffee.
Herbal infusions can also be used to treat specific ailments. For instance, vertigo is a spinning sensation that inner ear infections and neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and stroke can cause. When vertigo strikes, it can make it hard to move around or even stand up without feeling dizzy or nauseous due to conflicting signals that confuse the brain about where the body is about its surroundings. Herbs such as peppermint are known for settling sickness and nausea—infusing them in hot water and drinking the resulting tea may help control symptoms of vertigo and make it easier to regain one’s balance.
