Lemongrass
Lemongrass is a perennial grass that is widely used for flavoring and fragrance in soaps and other products. As a home remedy for a stuffy nose, it acts as a decongestant. It can be used to clear out mucus from the nose and chest. Lemongrass can be used as a balm or rub that can be applied to the chest. Once the vapors of the lemongrass are inhaled, it allows for clearing the mucus in the nostrils.
It can also be used in tea by boiling the lemongrass in water and then adding the desired sweetener, like honey. It can be enjoyed as a warm drink that lessens inflammation because of the heat. It introduces liquid that keeps a person hydrated, and vapors can also be inhaled, which promotes the flow of mucus.
Lemongrass also contains a high amount of vitamin C, and is typically safe to drink and consume in moderation. The side effects of consuming too much lemongrass include dizziness and increased hunger. As of the moment, there is no current drug that is known to interact with lemongrass.
