Hot Compress
A hot compress can help soothe the irritation and itchiness associated with pink eye by improving blood circulation and opening the pores. The increased blood flow can also help to reduce inflammation and swelling. Additionally, the compress’s warmth can help break down any crusting that has formed around the eyelashes due to the discharge.
To use a hot compress, soak a clean washcloth in hot water (be careful not to make it too hot), wring it out, and apply it to the affected eye for 5-10 minutes at a time. Repeat this process several times per day until your symptoms improve. You can also alternate between a hot and cold compress for better results. Make sure to use a clean washcloth each time so as not to spread the infection.
Pink eye usually clears up on its own within a few days, but if the symptoms are severe or aren’t improving after a week, it’s important to see a doctor. Additionally, if one experiences pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity, or fever along with common pink eye symptoms, they should seek medical attention immediately for more advanced treatments.
