Apples
Eating an apple a day might keep the doctor away, but in the case of kidney infection, it can do something much more valuable: save you a trip to the emergency room. That’s because a recent study found that eating apples can reduce the symptoms of acute kidney infection. According to researchers at England’s University of Warwick, two slices of apple every day for one week helped prevent the recurrence of acute kidney infection in patients who had suffered from it.
Apples are full of antioxidants and fiber, both known to aid digestion and help prevent certain types of bacteria from forming in the body. The fiber also plays a part in removing waste that wouldn’t normally be cleared from the system by the kidneys. Whatever the specific reason is, it’s clear that eating apples can help relieve some of the discomfort caused by kidney infections, which is worth it if you’ve been feeling sick for a few days.
