Baking Soda or Cornstarch Paste
Some might want to consider using baking soda during the blistering stage of the genital herpes outbreak. Baking soda may assist in gradually accelerating the drying of the herpes blisters while keeping the region dry and reducing the likelihood of bacteria growing there.
To use this technique, make a thick paste by combining pure baking soda and a small amount of water. Using a cotton ball or swab, dab the paste on the sores. To avoid contaminating the baking soda mixture, use a new swab each time.
Another useful for drying out sores and reducing irritation is corn starch paste. The action of cornstarch is quite similar to that of baking soda. Its purpose is to dry the genital area and the herpes blisters loaded with fluid.
Apply a small amount of cornstarch to the afflicted region with a damp cotton ball or Q-tip. The same method used to make baking soda paste can also be used to make cornstarch paste. Make sure to discard any unused paste after you’ve finished using it.
