Baking Soda
Another interesting anti-dandruff treatment is baking soda, known scientifically as sodium bicarbonate. The powder is an excellent exfoliant. When dealing with dandruff, removing the layer of skin on top of the scalp can help eliminate flaking and the presence of the fungi that causes dandruff. Besides clearing out existing dandruff, baking soda also has antifungal properties. It will prevent dandruff from immediately returning to someone’s scalp.
Applying baking soda to the scalp will only require mixing it with a few tablespoons of lukewarm water to a few scoops of the powder. The goal is to create a paste that will stick to the scalp. Those who want this treatment can then take the mixture into their bath. They should gently massage the paste into their scalp and leave it for a minute. After that, a simple shampoo and rinse will do. The treatment is only for two days a week because baking soda is very acidic and can damage the scalp and remove its natural oils, especially with overuse.
