15 Foods to Avoid with Acid Reflux (List)

Potato Chips

As far as the unhealthy aspects of potato chips, the packaged variants are the worst offenders. Potato chips are processed, and usually fried. Even the ones that claim to be baked aren’t much better. The trouble with potato chips is that they are always high in fat content. Fat content can cause the stomach to slow down during the digestion process. A full stomach that stays full for longer means a much higher chance of getting heartburn.

As stated above, greasy foods are not a good idea, and potato chips fall under the category of greasy foods. There are all manner of chips available, from potato to tortilla to corn — and just about any other type of chip available as a junk food. If it’s a packaged snack, you’ll have to think twice, as these are the kinds of foods that could potentially trigger heartburn.

As a matter of fact, it’s not even necessarily from a GER standpoint. If you want to be healthier in general, potato chips and most other types of packaged snacks aren’t a good idea.
