Vitamin Deficiency
Shortage of vitamin B12 in the body is another cause of many neurological syndromes, including excessively sweaty feet. It occurs when the body doesn’t get enough vitamin B12, resulting in anemia and a damaged nerve protective sheath in various body parts.
As an essential contributor to the metabolic pathway that produces the fatty substance myelin, vitamin B12 is vital in keeping the nervous system healthy. It also helps make red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the rest of the body, ensuring its full function.
In the incidence of lacking or reduced levels of vitamin B12 in the body, the red blood cells become abnormally large, causing a wide range of symptoms, including the development of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). In some cases, it can cause the individual to feel like having pins and needles and excessive sweating in the extremities, a clear sign of irreversible nerve damage. It also results in neuropathy, vasculopathy, poor glycemic control, and abnormal thermoregulation in the hands and feet, other conditions that contribute to hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating.
