Discomfort
Discomfort is defined as a slight pain that causes uneasiness, anxiety, or embarrassment. People with plantar fasciitis have to live with a certain degree of discomfort as constant throbbing pain is present in the feet throughout the day. The discomfort typically begins when they wake up and experience first-step pain, which leads to them gingerly walking through the first few minutes. Although the pain subsides when the tendon becomes accustomed to the weight being put on it, it still does make someone wince and uneasy.
People with plantar fasciitis have to contend with various levels of discomfort during the day as the pain due to the inflammation of the plantar fascia comes and goes. The pain could be instantaneous and can intensify depending on the type of activity the person’s engaged in. Typically, the more strenuous an activity, the more intense the discomfort and pain are afterward.
Podiatrists recommend inserts with gel cushions and the right footwear with adequate support to help manage discomfort due to plantar fasciitis. The use of compression socks and elastic tape, stretching exercises, and physiotherapy can also help with the constant discomfort.
